Style File - Kate Middleton
WHEN Kate Middleton walked up the aisle this year to wed Prince William, her choice of dress was one of the most highly-anticipated fashion moments of the year. Her McQueen gown received accolades for its elegance and intricate detail. Since then, the world has become mesmerised with the new Duchess of Cambridge's style.
The fashion world's interest in her style began with the royal engagement in November last year when Kate's parents - Carole, an air hostess, and Michael, a flight dispatcher for British Airways - visited the Queen's estate in Scotland after William proposed to Kate during their holiday to Kenya in October 2010.
After attending Marlborough College in Wiltshire, Kate met Prince William eight years ago when they both studied at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. Since then, her fashion choices as a potential princess have been keenly watched - from polo matches and friends' weddings to roller discos.
Over the years, she has favoured designer brands including Issa and Mulberry but she's also a fan of the high street - she famously wore a Topshop dress to celebrate her 25th birthday and Reiss for her first official portrait.
